RICE TERRACES AND MINORITY EXPLORATION
Longsheng
Longsheng is a mountainous region in northern Guangxi. The varied terrain includes bamboo covered hillsides next to rice terraces climbing to the sides of 800 meter peaks. It was one of the first areas to be settled in in souther China, and still boasts a rich variety of minority cultures living traditionally today. The Longsheng area today has a population of less than 200,000 people, comprising mainly minority tribes including Zhuang and Red Yao. Longsheng is great for those looking to see rural China by embarking on a scenic hike through the mountainous rice terraces.
