Orienteering
Orienteering combines hiking with a lot of other skills, such as: map reading, compass skills, navigation skills, teamwork, and problem-solving. There are 4-8 people in each group, and the instructor will teach the students some small-scale map reading and compass navigation skills in the field. Then, the instructor will distribute large-scale topographic maps and tasks to each group member. The instructor will also assist each group of students in the division of roles and rotation and let students do orienteering and tasks in real mountain terrain. Each group of students will be followed by an instructor to ensure safety and corrective their skills.
Educational goals: Outdoor survival skills, map reading, compass use, navigation skills; problem-solving skills, willpower training, team division and collaboration, leadership, cultivating positive characters, and integrating into team life.
